Festival of India, also known as Harinam Festivals Inc., was originally established in mid 1979.

The impact that Festival of India (FOI) has had on the minds and hearts of its literally countless casual visitors and active participants is inestimable. Since it's founding, FOI has effectively transformed hundreds of locations.

City centers and parks, university and college campuses, county fair grounds, and even urban sidewalks were changed into glorious samplings of timeless artistry, science, and culture.

Initially, Festival of India is conceived to be a resource to the world for the exploration of self-realization.

Festival of India provides all persons with opportunities for understanding their full potential.

In all respects; therefore, the exhibits, programs, and cuisine urge everyone to explore the complexities of introspection. This is the functional purpose of Festival of India.

Over one hundred attractively designed panel displays report and depict little known information on topics such as Reincarnation, Vegetarianism, Ancient and Modern Science, and Vedic Histories. A veritable gallery of illustrative art work, sculpture, and photographic reproductions complete Festival of India's illuminating image to the public eye.

Beyond the visual and literary presentations, Festival of India's stage hosts internationally renown traditional and contemporary musicians, dancers, and dramatic artists, not to mention lecturers and dignitaries in the fields of scholarship and government administration.

With renewed enthusiasm and determination, FOI steadily progresses into the twenty-first century.

Festival of India appeared on the American scene in the late 1970's, yet the contents and presentations of FOI are the timeless culture and Knowledge of the eternal Vedas. Veda means knowledge thus it is the primary purpose of Festival of India is to deliver the ageless social serenity of the Vedic culture to today's characteristically chaotic population.


The writings of His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and are now generally available through the offices affiliated with Festival of India (see links to the Bhaktivedanta Archives, Bhaktivedanta Book Trust, and BTG).

These works have been translated into nearly ninety languages. Festival of India is devoted to clearly communicating a summary of the Vedic precepts in the western world's "common tongue" of English.

The remarkably effective combination of traditional Asian visionary philosophy guides forceful western passions to produce the internationally appealing atmosphere equated with Festival of India.

Tangibly speaking, what is Festival of India: Twenty-seven brightly colored tents, a stage with state of the art sound system, dozens of dynamic displays, and attractive banners.


Festival of India can also provide traditional and classical Indian entertainment including classical Indian dances, Kirtans and Bhajans with Sitar, saraj, Tamboura, Tablas, Mridanga, Harmonium and Kartals, as well as theater based on great ancient histories like the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.


All of the above-described features are transported in one forty-eight foot tractor-trailer.

Festival of India is subsidized by grants and contributions from loyal supporters and is usually organized locally in each of the individual areas in which Festival of India serves. In fact, some universities have funded Festival of India's campus events.
