Now the snow has melted, spring is in the air and the warm sunny days mean that summer is just around the corner. For most people summer is a time for relaxing and vacation. But for us here at Festival of India, the arrival of summer means that we are preparing for 25 ecstatic, blissful, transcendental festivals over the next five months!

Festival of India started with 4 University Programs in Early April in the Washington D.C./Batimore area. Now, three weeks later, Sunday May 11, an auspicious day again here. It is the beginning of the 35th annual Festival Of India Tour. Devotees from all corners of the world are gathering at Festival Of India's headquarters in Prabhupada village which is located in the beautiful, lush and green North Carolina countryside. After attending the blissful Sunday program at the Temple of the Holy Name,we prepared for our departure to Houston.

Above is Govinda from Lithuania

Krishna Caitanya from Vancouver, B.C. showing his new Festival of India Tatoo....

We start every trip by first paying obeisances to Krishna's 18 wheel form (the Festival of India truck) and then we inspect the vehicles to make sure they are in tip top shape. Once the thorough inspection is complete we chant prayers to invoke auspiciousness. We chant the names of Sri Pancha Tattva followed by the maha mantra, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare, at the top of our lungs!
sri-krsna-caitanya
prabhu-nityananda
sri-advaita gadadhara
srivasadi-gaura-bhakta-vrnda
After this sacred ritual we start our journey.

Tuesday may 13, after a long journey we arrive in Houston Texas just in time to celebrate Narasimha chaturdasi.
We were all pleasantly surprised to see an incredible temple!

The temple was shining like a diamond surrounded by pebbles, its golden domes were rising into the clouds and the golden chakra on top could be seen from many miles away! There are many fragrant flowers decorating the temple grounds. Inside the temple there is intricately carved wood and marble everywhere, dioramas and painting of Sri Krishna's Lila's decorate the temple's walls.

Inside the temple room we got darshan of the presiding deities their lordships Sri Sri Nitai Gaurasundar, Sri Sri Radha Nila-Madhava and Sri Sri Giriraja maharaja! After a blissful Narasimha chaturdasi festival we took rest.
